Places
to Visit in Dalyan
The Rock Tombs
The Lycian Rock Tombs are a truly wonderful
sight. They are over 1500 Years Old and are one of the memories of Dalyan
that you won't forget. No matter where you are in the centre of Dalyan,
you will have a view of them - they are equally as impressive at night time,
when they are lit up.
The Lycians didn't bury their dead,
they believed that the dead would continue in another life which is why their
Tombs are above the ground. Many of the Kings of Kaunos were buried in
these Tombs along with their Gold and other Treasures.
The Rock Tombs are a short journey across the River
from Dalyan by Rowing Boat.

Kaunos
Kaunos is an amazing Ancient City which dates
back over 3000 Years. Amongst others it has had Persian, Hellenic, Roman
and Byantine Civilisations all living there. The City was said to be
founded by Kaunos who was the son of Miletus.
It was an important Trading Port exporting products
such as Figs, Fish and Salt.
You can spend hours walking around marvelling at
the ruins of this Historic City and admiring
the wonderful views of Dalyan in the distance.
Kaunos can be reached by getting the Rowing Boat
across the Dalyan Channel and then walking for about 20 minutes.
The rowing boat cost 3YTL return per person.

The Mud Baths and Sulphur Springs
The theraputic Mud Baths and Sulphur Springs are a short Boat Trip away from Dalyan towards Koycegiz town.
You and your family cover yourselves with Mud, then let it dry in the sun while it works its magic.
After you a short while you use one of the many showers to clean the mud off.
Then its time to go in the Thermal Springs which are about 40 degrees.
There is also a small Cafe to get snacks and light refreshments.

Iztuzu Beach
Iztuzu Beach is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the world. It is 7km long and is one of the few nesting grounds of the Endangered Caretta Caretta Sea Turtles, which is the reason that the beach is closed to the public between 20:00 and 08:00 every day.
Also building on or near the beach is prohibited for the protection of the Turtles.
Iztuzu is a sandbar because the Sea is on one side of the beach and across the other side is the River Water from the Dalyan Channel.
You can Reach Iztuzu by both Public Bus and Public Boat. The Boat meanders through the Reeds in the Dalyan Delta and takes about 45 Minutes, whereas the Bus Journey takes about 20 Minutes but is equally as breathtaking as it climbs the mountain roads and approaches Iztuzu from above offering magnificent views.
Both offer cheap and regular services.
